A message from Ben Koenig, the owner of The Country Bookshop:
The Country Bookshop is slowly opening up, but we want to do it very carefully.
At this time the bookshop is only open by appointment. We love to sell books, and we love to see people browsing our shelves, but we also want keep you safe.
Call us -- tell us when you want to browse -- and we will arrange a good time. In this way we hope to control the number of people browsing at any given time. Masks are required for all of us, and we have hand-sanitizer and/or soap and water in the shop.
You can also call or email us if you have a specific book-related need. We have a "pick-up box" on the porch for outside pickup.

We encourage everyone to stay safe, employ common sense whenever you are out and about, and remain healthy. You are very important to us.

Welcome! The Country Bookshop is in Plainfield, Vermont and just 15 minutes from Montpelier (and Interstate 89), our state capital. Turn off U.S. Route 2 at Plainfield's blinking light and you'll find us beside the church, beside the stone wall, and near the Winooski River waterfall.

of our hundred year-old country home.
We also stock old postcards, vintage photographs, prints, and other paper ephemera.
Our specialties include Folklore, Folk Music, Vermont, Signed books, Labor, and books on Bells and Carillons. Most of our specialties are now catalogued on the Internet.
